Why is it called Focused Infrared and how is it different from normal IR?

PDR uses Focused Infrared, meaning the IR energy is precisely concentrated onto a defined spot. Unlike normal IR that spreads heat over a wide area, focused IR delivers controlled, uniform, and localized heating, ideal for sensitive SMD/BGA components.

Is PDR’s IR Technology Safe? Do we need eye protection?

Yes, PDR’s IR technology is completely safe. It uses medium-wave IR, which is non-harmful when used correctly. No special eye protection is required, as the system is engineered for operator safety and low-risk operation.

Will the IR beam burn my fingers?

No. Focused IR heats the component and PCB surface, not the surrounding air. If you briefly place your hand near the beam, you will not be burned—but direct contact with heated components should always be avoided.

How does PDR’s Focused IR work?

PDR’s Focused IR uses a precision-controlled IR lamp and optical system to concentrate heat exactly where required. Real-time temperature feedback ensures accurate, repeatable thermal profiles without overheating nearby components.
